Detroit Prayer Walk 2011

*This was a first that has to be recorded. It is estimated that anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 people participated in this unprecedented event. I’m sticking with 10,000 for now… better to be conservative than to boast unfounded.*

10,000 children of God gathered in Detroit this morning as a precursor to the upcoming EACH campaign.

10,000 people stood in front of Comerica park and sang “God of this city.”

10,000 strong, we walked down Woodward Avenue.

Praying.

From Comerica Park we walked, almost to the river, and then back around, past the Spirit of Detroit, where we prayed the scripture that is carved into the building above:

2 Corinthians 3:17,  “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

The walk started in sunshine and ended in the rain.

Refreshing rain fell on me like God’s blessings showering down.

Detroit. My home. I have hope for you.

My hopes are not for material or finite blessings.

My hopes are that an awakening and a remembrance of our first love, Christ, would shake Metro Detroit to the core, and change it forever.

There is NO ONE like my God.
